Since 1980, japanese auto manufacturer Toyota has made a compact auto named the Toyota Celica Camry. The Camry became its own brand in 1982, and through the improvements in the generations, the Camry has been classified as a medium-sized vehicle. The brand name’Camry’ is really derived from the japanese word kanmuri, meaning’crown.’ The brand also showed how Camry became one of Toyota’s premiere models, as the Firm has had a custom of naming its primary models after the word’crown.’ Examples of this are the brands Toyota Crown, Toyota Corolla and Toyota Corona, all of which are derivations of the royal accessories. The Toyota Camry is known as a top end car brand, such that Camry models are used as executive cars in the East and Southeast Asian markets. It is one of Toyota’s best selling cars in the majority of its markets. In the US, the Camry has solidly been the country’s bestselling car in the 1990s, though the 2000s have seen other cars outselling it.
The Camry is also well-positioned in the Canadian, Australian, and Southeast Asian markets, particularly in Cambodia. However the european market has been proof against the Camry’s charms so much so that sales of the Camry in Europe has ceased since 2004, letting Toyota replace it with the Toyota Avensis. The Camry is considered as more executive and less sporty compared to its rivals, apart from its SE or sort trim. The brand has been available for 7 generations, excluding the Celica Camry make when it was first made. While the present generation’s wheelbase was redesigned to be longer, trunk space has been reduced. The Camry model for 2010 will incorporate some changes like reworked taillights and fascia, a new 2AR-FE 4-cylinder engine with 2.5 litre capacity and 6 speed transmissions. This generation is also the first with a gas – electric hybrid version, which is marketed as an environmental-friendly automobile.

Although the car scrappage idea was good initially, new car buyers that are part of the scheme are loosing out on the low price deals that everyone else is getting.
If you are unsure of what the scrappage scheme is, it’s where the government gives you a £2,000 grant to scrap your old car if it’s 10 years or older.
Not all customers will be denied the deal. Only car buyers that take out a manufacturers loan to pay for the car over a number of years. Scrappage scheme participants will be loosing out because manufacturers who offer these loans that have inteerest rates as little as 4.0%; they are choosing to charge customers on the scheme up to 10% APR. This now means that it would be cheaper to sell your car on the side and get a lower APR.
Toyota is one of many car manufacturers that are increasing their percentage rates. Toyota offers loan deals with annual percentage rates between.9 and 5.9%, based upon the length of the loan. However, they are now only offering a 8.9% rate to participants of the scrappage scheme. This means that if you were buying a T2 Avensis, it would cost you £14,565 with the scrappage scheme grant, but once you pay off the loan in full, you would have ended up paying an extra £700 over the original retail price of £16,000.
Ford and Seat are 2 more manufacturers that are increasing their rates for scrappage scheme customers. Ford normally offer a 3.9 APR, but if you are buying a new car with a scrappage grant, you only get to choose from the 7.9 APR that they are offering. Seat tends to be the worst, they normally offer a 0 APR, however, now if you are on the scrappage scheme, they will only offer you a 8.9 APR.
This problem has come about because the government is making the manufacturers pay half of the bill rather than the government paying for the entire scheme. This has left many annoyed and left having to try and find the money somewhere else, and this is how they are doing it.
It now seems that it would be more beneficial to sell your car seperately rather than participating in the new scrappage scheme. However, there are different options that there rather than buying your own car. Contract hire is a method of owning a car that is often overlooked. By taking out a Ford lease you can get the latest cars at cheaper prices.
So before you rush to trade your old banger in for £2,000, take time to consider the other options that could save you money.

Toyota has announced the cost for the new Prius.Costing over $23,000; the new Prius is a couple of grand more than the new kid on the block; the Insight. The lower MSRP earns the 2010 Insight the title of most affordable hybrid in the U.S.
A great feature on the new Insight is an ECO assist that will help educate the driver to become more efficient. The ECO socring helps the drive to have a system that allows for the best fuel economy, which is related back to the operator in the form of a miles per gallon readout. At the heart of this hybrid is the latest integrated motor assist system, also known as the IMA® system. This new technology further reduces weight, saves on manufacturering costs, and adds to the overall cabin space. The Insight also has an i-VTEC® engine equipped with a CVT (continuously variable transmission). Features included on some Insight models are: alloy wheels, cruise control, 6 speaker audio with USB interface, steering wheel mounted paddle shifters, Stability Assist, and a satellite navigation system with voice recognition. Just looking at the Prius and Insight will give you some information that Honda is copying the Prius in design, form, and function.
Toyota’s answer to the Insight is the Prius with a 160hp 1.8 liter engine uses 3 modes of operation. The EV mode allows the Prius to run on battery power alone, the ECO mode’s responsibility is to ensure the optimum gas mileage is obtained, and then the Power Mode give more power and throttle response.Toyota has a new Smart Collision system called the PCS which is available on the new Prius.Just set the PCS and the Prius will slow down by itself if the car ahead of you suddenly hits his brakes. Toyota has a new system of buttons on the steering wheel that will help keep the driver safe.
When it comes to price the Insight is hands down the winner, but the gas mileage rating is another story altogether.Early test put the Insight at a combine fuel economy of 41 miles per gallon, and the Prius is reported to get a 46 combined miles per gallon rating. So, if you commute 20,000 miles per year (and gas costs $2.50 a gallon), you would spend $1219 in fuel on the Insight and $1086 on the Prius. When you drive a Prius, the amount of gas saved compared to an Insight is about 53 gallons, so to cover the lower price you would have to drive for 27 years.Even though the Toyota nets better MPG, the Honda is still a better value due to its low price!

Hybrids have a new pinnacle of technology in the 2010 Prius. The amazing Fuel Economy is what has the largest appeal to many people. The New Prius comes furnished with a 1.The Prius has a new larger engine.5L.Due to the increase of torque, the larger engine in the new Prius has better fuel economy.Past models had 110 horspower, the new model has 160-hp.
Past versions will be eclipsed by the 2010 Prius, which is up by 4 MPG. Of course there are those out there who employ some great hypermiling techniques or they use plain old frugal driving habits to net upwards of 75 MPG out of their Prius! The Prius has been lightened enough to affect the fuel economy. The stiffer body helps deduct the noise and vibration from the engine as well as the transmission.
In redesigning the Prius, engineers have successfully improved the steering by angling the wheels slightly and creating brake discs at all four corners. Something else exciting about the new Prius is that many of the optional features on the previous model now come standard on the 2010 model, such as: automatic air conditioning, a CD stereo, power windows, locks, and doors. Some cool new items include a rearview camera, LED headlights, Solar Panels on the sunroof, and a Satellite Navigation System.
Electricity is taken from the brakes, and used to charge the batteries. Safety Standards are excellent on the new Prius. Safety components include anti-lock brakes, stability control, as well as traction, and seven surrounding airbags.
See the new Prius and a nice inventory of other hybrids at the Riverside County Toyota Dealer. Or view an article at at Best New Autos on the Prius winning some awards.
