Cars are a symbol of power.  Private lots and huge car collections are the fantasy of many celebrity watchers.  But for some people an inexpensive car is the way to go.  It’s doesn’t have to be a clunker just because it doesn’t cost a lot.  Less costly can still be exciting to drive.

A used car purchase can save a lot of money.  There a much less expensive top model cars, at least when compared to the new versions.  A new term has emerged over the last decade, pre-owned – to denote used cars that are of high quality.  Pre-owned cars have pulled some new car lovers into the used car world.  Think about luxury vehicles.  A Mercedes or Lexus is so well built that even 10 year old cars can still be in excellent condition.  Many people always buy late model used cars instead of new ones.Remember the chauffeur in “Driving Miss Daisy”?  He always bought Miss Daisy’s second hand, luxury cars.

There are also some nice, low cost new cars.  Companies like Hyundai make excellent cars that can be purchased new for under $12,000.  A car like the Honda Civic weighs in at about $15,000 for one of the best engineered cars in the world.  That’s a good car that gets great mileage and lasts forever.  Luxury cars that need premium fuel and parts are generally more expensive to maintain too.

There are even relatively less expensive luxury cars.  The Audi brand is generally at the bottom portion of the price spectrum in the luxury class.  Audi boasts the top engineered cars in the world, bar none.  A less expensive luxury sports car is the Audi TT.

Some people aren’t happy unless they scrape the bottom of the barrel cheap.  They don’t care if the car is held together with chewing gum and wire.  Teens often buy this style of car.  This type of car is good practice for a life of car care, and it gets the job done.  But watch out, when doing car comparisons the age old adage “You get what you pay for” applies to cheap cars too.  A car that constantly breaks down is no bargain at any price.
